naturally dyed stones

It's been a busy week.  I'll be back soon, but in the meantime here are some naturally-dyed stones to look at.  (you'll be seeing them again soon)

Have a lovely weekend, all!

  1. Hi Lisa what a lovely picture! I hope you will tell us what you used to get those great colors! I really want to know how you got that amazing color blue-it is beautiful! Happy weekend!

  2. Such pretty colors! What did you use for the pink stones and the salmon colored one? I'm guessing beets for the pink...is that right? I have no idea what would make that pretty salmon color though.

  4. Thanks so much, ladies!

Kristy - the blue came from black beans. The first batch I ever did turned out great, all subsequent batches have turned out grey or otherwise blech. Not sure what I did the first time but I can't seem to replicate it.

Rachel - the pink is from lobster mushrooms and the salmon color is from the roots of bedstraw - galium boreale. It gives a range of orange hues and I overdyed some pale pink (from lobster mushrooms again) with it for that color.
