Landscape Brooches

My muse seems to be whispering in my ear again.  Right now she's making me nostalgic about trips taken and dreamt of, and as a result I've been needling some small scenes for brooches.  I wonder if my muse was off road-tripping all this time?

The scene of birch and violets has already found a home, but this lone hickory will be in my shop shortly, and if I'm lucky, another piece featuring the sun setting over open water.

Have you taken a trip lately?  Would you like to?  Where would you like to watch the sun set?

  1. Those are really lovely :) I think a sunrise would also be nice. How on earth do you felt these?

  2. extraordinary work lisa. congratulations! amazing. it makes my heart happy to see how you are combining wood with delicate stitches and scenes.

road trip? The Red Wood forest going south. or...La Push in the Olympic Peninsula going north. either way...I want to frolic amongst giant trees and breath tree air.

  3. Don't you just love a happy muse? These tree landscape brooches are extraordinary! I would love to see the sun set over an orchard valley. Or the Pacific Ocean. I don't live that far away from the ocean, but getting the opportunity to get away is so hard.

  5. what precious makings. i love that you used wood also in addition to the felt and embroidery. will keep them on my radar.

and as for a trip, i've always wanted to visit poland or return to england where i grew up. actually, i'm planning a summer trip there with my daughter for this summer. other options, slovenia on the adriatic coast, cape cod, lots of chile and argentina.

I just found your blog and am totally enthralled, in fact so much so that I immediately ordered the wood and wool brooch. It seems that every one of your projects speaks to me on a deep and meaningful level. Just love your blog and am so happy to have found it.

  7. your muse made my day with totally non-allergenic birch trees, which arrived precisely as i needed them. you are not only an artist but a magician.

i hope your muses continue to speak to you all weekend.

  8. p.s. i need a road trip, on a desolate highway in arizona, just me and saguaros and the eagles: no road trip without the eagles..."standin' on a corner in winslow arizona, 7 women on my mind..." (you get the idea.)

  15. Wow, Lisa! Those are so, so beautiful!
Sunset for me was on top of the mt. We went camping this weekend. Nothing like watching the sun set when you're sitting on top of the world.
I also love watching beach sunsets, when you're sitting rimworld.
Good luck with your new BC shop!

    Leka.
