Our search for sunshine this weekend led us north to Duluth where we visited the fish in the aquarium and walked around the zoo.  My boy, who becomes a teenager today, wanted to try out my camera and snapped a lot of really great photos.  In honor of his birthday, here are a few images as seen by big R.

a bear butt! (kids, I tell ya)

You did a great job, my boy.  Happy Birthday!

I was in Duluth on Friday! My first time ever. Ate at Fitger's on our way home from a cabin in Lutsen, and a bear crossed the road in front of our car as we were leaving Duluth! I thought of you a lot over the week as I snapped photos of lichen, mushrooms, moss, ferns, birch bark, etc. Now I'm back in hot hot hot St. Louis, MO. Good thing I have your blog to take me back to my lovely time in the Northwoods!

Happy thirteenth to your son! The photos are so fun - reminds me of the shots taken with the old disposable camera my son took on a family trip to Hawaii when he was in his early teens - boy-cam all the way. Special times, for sure. enjoy, Lisa! -sus

Happy B-day to Big R! Looks like he had a great day there in Duluth. What a pretty area. When we get back there we always go to Splitrock Lighthouse and then spend the late afternoon watching the ships come into the bay. Awesome!

Oh! The lion with the rumpled cheek is my favorite.

And many happy returns of the day for your brand new teenager!
