They're alive! Aliiiive!!

Aren't they beautiful?
I know, you're probably wondering what the heck this is and why on earth I'm showing it to you.   One, they're baby mushrooms sprouting from my Grow Your Own Mushroom kit from Back To The Roots .  Two, I'm easily entertained.  Also, I felt like a proud momma and had to show off the babies.
Now you may wonder why I am growing my own mushrooms when I live in the woods.  Well, my woods, while abundant in the fall, are short on mushrooms in the spring.  Secondly because this is the kind of company I like to support.  These little kits use recycled coffee grounds as growing media and if you post a pic of your fully grown mushrooms on their facebook page, the company will donate a growing kit to an elementary classroom, you have to love that.

And also because it's just cool.
I can't wait to eat them.

Want to try it for yourself?  You can find them on their website, on facebook, and now even on Etsy.

Grow on!

At first I thought this was from a structural survey of your house: "I'm afraid it's bad news, Mrs Jordan..." ;-)

so awesome. i would be super excited if they were my mushrooms too. i saw them on etsy (i think because of you), although i also saw a local company at the farmers market this weekend that i might check out first. i would LOVE to grow my own 'shrooms.

They are so cute. We have grown Shitake mushrooms for that last couple of years and they really are fun to watch grow.

They look so cute! this reminds me of when in the 70's my children and l use to grow "ordinary" mushrooms in a box in the back bedroom. It was great fun. I haven't thought about that for years. Thanks for prompting the gorgeous memoryxx
