a snow stone giveaway

To celebrate the falling snow, I'd like to have a little giveaway.

This is a larger textural stone, about 3" long, inspired by frost and the coming snows that cover the lumpy and odd bits in nature.  For those of you new to my work, I cover real stones that I've gathered in wool, felt it, and stitch on the surface.  In addition to stitches, this stone also boasts glass seed beads.  The varying textures make this a fun piece to run your hands over.

***THIS GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED***
If you'd like to a chance to win this stone, you just need to leave me a comment on this post, but here's what I need from you...

I need your feedback.

I'd like to know what you would like to see from me this year, from this blog and in my shop.
More natural dyeing, more tutorials, more stones, more ornaments, more foraging...what would you like to see?

Leave a comment, and be sure to give me a way to contact you.  I'll ship worldwide, so everyone is more than welcome to enter.

I'll close the comments and announce the winner on Monday morning, Jan.16th.

Thank you everyone!
Have a great weekend!

I would love to be entered in your giveaway... Such a splendid piece!

What would I like to see on your blog? I enjoy reading all your posts. The foraging posts along with your creations are my most favorite- followed closely by the various ways to naturally die materials. My son and I really really enjoyed the acorn article and how to make food from natural resources. I am passionate about living as much as we can nature without all the chemicals! :)

Oh wow! I'd love to get this Stone! The winter seems to be disinterested in visting Germany this time...
I would like to read more tutorials of you. I'm really looking forward to learn how to dye with natural materials!

Well, many of those topics interest me! At this moment, natural dyeing is at the top of the list. I used your poinsettia pin tutorial to make several gifts for Christmas, so I love new tutorials from you too!

I say keep doing what you are doing, as long as you love it! Your passion comes through and it shows in your work. I personally would love a chance to buy one of your acorn/mushroom ornaments, but only if you enjoy making them! :)

Follow your bliss! Then share it. It's what you do...

First: I'm jealous. We've hardly had any real winter weather here and our yards are lacking in lovely snow.

Second: I'm so inspired by everything you post, I hardly know what to suggest. I love learning, so I will never say no to more tutorials. You're foraging posts are always interesting and full of lovely and interesting pictures. ANd I love your pictures (Wordless Wednesday is often one of my favourite posts of the week). For me, more of the same would be just about perfect :)

Love the stone, we are just getting our first "real" snowfall of winter here in upstate NY. I would love to see more of everything, mostly the pieces you make for your children. I love the blocks and doll bed and the sweater for your daughter.

What an amazing piece, looks like a small planet to me.

Although I only found your blog earlier today I must confess I'll be back for more. I already bookmarked a few of your tutorials (which I always like to see, everywhere) but like Betz White said, keep doing what you love and we shall all benefit from it.

And I thank you very much for visiting my blog and writing a comment there. It feels so wonderful to receive comments :)

Hello,

I'm fairly new to your blog, but I love it already :)

I'd love to see more tutorials please.

Thanks xx

I really love your foraging and pics. Your felted mushrooms fascinate me, as do your beautiful pins! I love your dying too. It is such a joy to read your blog because you let your creativity guide you in such an artistic way. I'd say, let inspiration be your guide this year too! I would enjoy more tutorials on dying, I'd love to learn more about it (and try some).

This snow stone is so fun to look at-the textures and subtle shades of white really draw the eye! I'd so love to win one.

Marilyn said...

I would love to see you progress naturally. You are doing more now than you did before and as you find new things they present more for you to explore. The mushrooms that you used, to dye the mushrooms that you made...for eg. The little brooches "with a view", are divine and maybe a few more will happen if you see something that sparks your imagination...everything you do is just a marvel and you know how I feel about your magic fingers!!!

Christie Clark said...

What I love about you is your honesty, simplicity and clarity. Your voice is pure as you describe your processes, your life. Each project you tackle breathes life into our curiosity.
So- post more about your daily doings. Yes- we are happy to hear that you wrapped miles of floss around clothespins. Tell us what you stumbled across today. Your plans, your musings, your world. And let us come along for the ride! (That's the best part)

J. Anthony Stubblefield said...

Very beautiful. I am fascinated with your covered stones. The textures are so organic.

I suppose I like to be surprised with the blogs I follow. I like to learn something new or interesting that I didn't even know existed.

I am partial to tutorials though. I have printed out your felt poinsettia tutorial and want to try one.

Gordana.M said...

Lisa, this stone reminds me of corals (brain refusing to accept the white stuff ;) and beautiful beach finds that are endless in their textures and feel, and glisten with water drops - just like your seed beads :)
What I would like is to live closer to you and join you on your foraging trips. What delights me with the piece I have from you is the feel under my fingers, smoothness of wood, softness of wool. So, in ideal life, i would be there to feel all the textures of your world, personally. Now, how are you going to translate this into your blog - no idea ;) Hug, Gordana

I live in Florida, so your beautiful rock would add a touch of a snowy winter to my home and a chance to touch and feel your work. I love your foraging photos and I am intrigued by your crafts. More tutorials would be great but mostly just keep doing and growing as you are! I am amazed on how focused you are on your particular craft...it inspires me to try to focus and find something that I am good at and stick with it. Thank you for being you!

This is beautiful, a really lovely thing. If it's all the same to you, though, you can keep the actual snow--we don't want it over here in Connecticut.

Count me as one who loves your work and your blog--just keep on keeping on!

The fact that Betz is leaving you a comment, you are doing everything right sista! No need to change. Why fix what's not broken?

Wait. You go FIND things to fix or break (or age) new things. I forgot. What was I thinking???

(And what's up with my getting these word verifications wrong today?!!?!!)

Lisa, that stone is absolutely amazing! One of these days I am going to have to try and do one. I don't know what to suggest to you - you come up with so much on your own. I love your tutorials - thank you so much for being willing to share them! Since my job as a naturalist takes me outdoors with kids of all ages I love that so many of your projects include nature inspired crafting. Keep up the fantastic job you are doing!

Lisa, I LOVE that stone. It reminds me of coral.
I don't really have one thing that I'd like to see more of. Everything you post is a feast for the eyes. You've become my 'go to' blog when I'm looking for directions. I think to myself "I wonder if Lisa has a post about this"? I marked a natural dye post a while back.

We got a dusting of snow in TN yesteday. Hoping for more.

Dear Lisa, I would love to add this stone to my treasures. Your work is beautiful and inspiring. Keep on keeping on what you are doing! I would like more tutorials- for example, seeing your felted embroidery appliques with felt "scraps" - I have read felting techniques online and tried them, but my results are not the same-- is it because I have a front-end washer? I would also like to see you create some buttons- felted, embroidered, scenes, clay, wood, carved, beaded, etc.! Thank you, LeeW

Lisa, I enjoy your blog just as it is! There is a nice balance of all the things I am interested in. In December I especially enjoyed your posts on dress-tweaking and making gifts for your daughter. Perhaps more on repurposing, which clearly is a talent of yours, it takes a special kind of vision.
I was fortunate to have been able to purchase one of your charming tiny acorn ornaments with the mushroom inside and gave it to my daughter as a solstice gift. As we were taking down the tree, she deemed it to special to put away, its one we plan to enjoy all year.

You are great at doing the "green" thing and showing how to alter things, such as your jumper to fit your daughter and decorate it so beautifully I could go on and on..you asked for feed back ...l can only give you good feed back. I suppose what l look forward to is your happy, informative and beautifully present blog. Is there anything missing...not that l can see..just carry on doing what you are doing and 2012 will be a great year for youxxlynda

The stone is stunning! I've only recently begun reading your blog, and I must say I enjoy every single post. I'm particularly interested in your natural dyeing experiments, your interactions with nature, following your work process and also how you combine work/art with family life. I discovered your blog on Pinterest several months ago when I "pinned" your textural wool stones...fabulous by the way! I love all the things you create with supplies from nature. That would be my favorite feature. I love things you make from re-purposed wool like the sweater in your last post. Also felt and felting. Your blog is one of my very favorites and I'm so glad I discovered it.

Thanks for the chance in your giveaway!!

Tree Dellinger said...

Frankly I think you could take pictures of a compost pile and make it into an inspiring blog post.

I like hearing about your creative processes regardless of what your current project might be. Tells us more about what inspires you, what prompted you to try a new project, and even how somethings just don't turn out the way you had planned (whether for the good or the bad). And, if it's not too personal, tell us more about the business side of your crafting. There are many very talented crafters who blog, but relatively few of them are upfront about what didn't work for them, the project that failed, or obstacles they face in their shop.

dylagence said...

Your "found" things and creative ways of using them appeal to me on such a grounded and beautiful level. We seem to have all the same interests. Felting is something I'd like to see more of. Repurposing is also so smart and fun.

Oh, I love your tutorials. I don't always do them, but they always set me on fire with intention to do them. :D Sometimes in my hectic life, that's enough. The desire to want to craft a beautiful item. The time to do it is sometimes the thing that is lacking.

I also love ornaments. Those are always easy to justify...hehehe. I managed to get one of your little acorns. :D

It might also be cool if you made little "stones" from your wood. I love finding flat river stones, but it might be cool to have a flat wooden stone at well. Something like a worry stone. But not really to worry. Just to be beautiful and remind me of the beauty outside when I'm stuck inside. Wow, I feel like I'm placing a special order all of a sudden! hahha

And it would be an honor to win your snow stone.

I love your tutorials and foraging. Your blog inspires, so I guess I'd say, keep it up! I really enjoy the photos of your outdoor finds that inspire crafted items. I've used a couple of the tutorials and had great success. Thank you!

Happy 2012.

The stone is gorgeous, as is all of your felt work. I also enjoy a lot your 'make do' posts, transforming found or thrifted objects in toys, new clothes or objects of beauty.
Thank you for sharing glimpses of your life.

Hi Lisa, I love reading your blog each day - not only do you give me lots of inspiration and sometimes lots of giggles (I still laugh at the photo of your chook with a scarf on!), but I love your outlook on life, nature, family and craft! I would love to be able to learn more from you - so more tutorials - actually more of everything! I love it all, and I'm a huge mushroom freak too! I think your felted work is absolutely stunning, so yes, I would love to win one! Thank you for sharing your life with me each day! Cheers, Kaye

I would love to see anything you can show, but tutorials are especially wonderful. As is anything to do with felting. I just love your work. Thanks for sharing it with us on this blog.

When I opened up the notification of your new posting, in a matter of moments, I was in awe of the stone! I would love to see more tutorials, more MN wanderings (I'm a MN gal), and your creativeness. Yes, please enter me in the drawing. Lori
