new things

I took a class yesterday in which I carved stamps and experimented with them on paper with layers of acrylic paint.  It was a change of pace, and though I'm clearly no expert on stamp-carving, it was a fun way to spend a few hours on a Saturday.

It's good to try new things, don't you think?

Everyone should take a bit of time every day to do something creative! Printing is one of my favorites - even quite young children can get spectacular results - using a ball-point pen or some type of stylus to draw on those horrible styrofoam meat trays (at least they get some creative use, or, if you buy meat at a butchers, craft supply stores sell foam squares), or cutting simple shapes and gluing them to a larger piece creates a printing "plate" which can be inked with any type of paint and used over and over to print "real" artwork by block printing!

I say they are awesome, and I'm super happy that you're managing to find some time for yourself exclusively. The shroom is adorable, and the acorn is stellar !! oxox

We were letterboxing long before we were foraging as a prime hobby. Stamp carving is really fun, and you will be amazed how quickly your carves will improve! On Atlasquest, our trail name was also "The3Foragers"
