frosty mornings and adventure kitties

I took a walk around the yard this morning. Mother Nature had once again sugared the landscape and I marvel in the details of her chilly confections. Even something as simple as an oil lamp, forgotten near the patio, becomes somehow special.

The adventure kitties even joined me for a stroll. Pug, the one with the unfortunate tail and the tan eyes, still insists on climbing my leg when he wants my attention. His brother, Leopard, (the kids named them) with the extra toes and greenish eyes is far more reserved and only doles out affection occasionally. He will walk near me, purring and kneading the ground, but doesn't exactly want me to hold him. Silly things, cats.

Happy Thursday, all.

an early morning walk through the hoar frost

I snuck out this morning for a walk in the woods.  I haven't had much alone time lately and I was happy to have a bit of time to decompress.  Happier still when I looked out to see the trees covered in hoar frost.

Charlie has a real knack for sneaking in my photos.  Can you spot him in the photos below?  He cracks me up.

The sun is now up and the trees are glittering in the sunlight.  What a great way to start the day.
I hope yours is off to a good start too.
Happy Saturday, all.

frost feathers

The other morning Jack Frost had worked his magic on our kitchen window.  I noticed it as I was pouring my coffee and thought, "hmm, frost".  When my daughter noticed it she burst into laughter and said "silly chickens! feathers on the window!".  She was certain that the chickens were having some shenanigans, and sure enough when I looked at it again, I saw feathers too.

Happy Sunday, everyone.

Frosty Landscapes

A light covering of frost was on the ground this morning as I walked to the chicken coop for my morning egg from Betty. My eyes kept scanning the ground and noticing the leaves outlined in frost, tiny landscapes of color and texture, sugared in ice. I pulled my camera from my pocket and captured a few of them. As I slowly made the walk back, I noticed that the frost was disappearing in my path, the leaves being warmed by the rising sun. It was quiet and still and I was thankful for the bit of peace before the day began.

I hope these quiet pictures find you all feeling peaceful and still as well. (if only for a moment)

Oh the many colors captured in a dying leaf....mother nature is an artist.
