'bobs here for a visit

Two wide-eyed little 'bobs from beyond the woods arrived yesterday.  Sent to me by their creator, Kit Lane, to spend time under my sewing needles.  I think word must have gotten out, hence their startled expressions.

I'm not sure when I'll get to these little two but I'll try not to make it too long.  I'd hate to torture them with the anticipation. (that's always the worst, isn't it?  the waiting?)

Some of their brothers have gone before them.  You can see them here and here.

In unrelated news, the Tuesday farmer's market opened yesterday in the parking lot where I work.  It was pretty darn chilly out there and I admired the growers' pluck for sticking it out.  I did my part and bought a block of mushroom spawn for growing wine cap mushrooms, some big beautiful basil plants, a jar of raspberry jalapeno jam, and a block of locally made goat gouda.  Mmmmm and mmm.  Tuesdays are a day to look forward to.

Have a great day, everyone.

little stitchy 'bobs are here!

The other day I gave you a little peek at the Kit Lane pieces I collaborated on.  Well here they are!  They look a little shocked at what has happened to them, don't they?

They'll be headed to her shop sometime today
but you can also see some other pics on her flickr page.

Psst...that little guy on the right, the sparkly white one, has a secret...

Hope you all have a great start to your week.
Happy Monday.

we must

"Do we have to go out there?  It's so cold."

Words I mutter almost daily lately.  But yes, little 'bobs, we must.
These two are headed back to their talented creator, Kit Lane, after being visited by my sewing needles for a spell.  They'll show up in her shop soon, I'm sure.  One of them has a delightful little secret that I can't share yet, but it makes me giggle when I think of it.

Hope you're having a warm weekend.

a collaboration

A wee collaboration between Kit Lane and me, a few of her fabulous 'Bobs given some stitchy love from me.  She'll be unveiling these in her shop this afternoon.

Both the pale yellow guy at the top and the pink one behind him were needled by Kit as we sat and chatted together one snowy weekend in April.  I had given her some wool that I had dyed, the yellow with strawberry leaves (I think) and the pink from lobster mushrooms, and she was trying it out on my visit.  When they were finished I tucked them in my suitcase along with memories of amazing conversation, bites of forbidden cheesecake, and San Pellegrino fizzy water, and brought them home to stitch. (the white one was hers to keep)

The yellow one was encrusted with knots and stitches, all of dyed by me with materials from my woods.  The pink one seemed to long for something a little more quirky.

Kit does wonderful work from these squee-inspiring Jacabobs to her sculptural pieces (and Jabba, we can't forget Jabba) and has a dedicated following.  I'm thrilled to have been able to collaborate with her.

If you're interested in owning one of these pieces, keep your eye on her shop.  They should be there some time this afternoon.

Thanks everyone!

ready to tackle the week

The snow is melting, the ducks are now swimming instead of skating, the cold that plagued me early last week is gone, and I spent a glorious weekend at my friend Kit's talking and walking and... talking.  A lot of really great talking.  I feel refreshed and ready to tackle this week head-on.

She and I have talked before about a collaboration between us, and we've put that plan into action.  She made me two of her famous Jacabobs out of wool I dyed using natural materials and I'm going to stitch them up.

They look so innocent with their sweet naked pastel faces but their brother could probably tell them his war stories after having been on my workbench.  But shh...let's not worry them unnecessarily.  It will only pinch a little...

Hope your week is off to a great start too.  Enjoy your day!
