a shop update and a giveaway, as promised

10 days of stitching all lined up.
10 stones will go in my shop Friday morning at 9am central time.
The proceeds from which, if they should sell, will go right back into my wool supply. :)

Now, how about a little giveaway?
During my challenge there were two days that I was able to make extra stones. I'll give them away, one here and one on my facebook page, so you have two chances to win.

How to enter: This giveaway is now closed
Leave me a comment here on this blog post (and/or on my facebook post) telling me what you would do if you had the time.
My kids will pick a winner, randomly, from both my blog and my facebook page on Saturday morning. That's it! The winner here will win the stitched stone pictured below. I will ship worldwide.
Good luck!

I love your work...it is beautiful and inspires me to be more creative. I love embroidery but don't do much of it anymore. If I had the time, I would become skilled at making my own clothes so I could really have my own style.

I would go to the family cabin and spend my time knitting, stitching and felting... oh, AND reading!! :)

Lisa, your stones are inspiring. If I could, I would get my art degree, and teach art therapy for cancer patients.

If I had more time, I would take up felting or spinning. Thank you for sharing your work. I have really enjoyed watching your progress!

Would love to win one of your stones. They are beautiful and really inspiring!

That's very sweet of you to offer this chance to win.

As a mother of 3, if I had time I would selfishly take it for myself. And create create create ! I like to sew, to draw, to embroider on fabric, to build small objects, to make plushes...

I would spin more

As I already said on facebook I would do a postgraduate degree which I missed doing after University due to lack of money, then of course got married, had a child, divorced etc etc so no more studies!AriadnefromGreece!

I would declutter my life so that I could pursue things of joy. There's altogether too mych housecleaning in my life (or,rather, too little which makes my house uncomfortable ).

Man, if I had time, I'd ruuuule the world. hah No, but really. I'd read the 45 books I've got on my "to read" shelf. I'd knit more. I'd spin down my stash. I'd find some magical way to monetize my crafting (pipe dream). I'd honestly probably nap more too. haha

I can't resist entering both places - if I had both time and money, I'd take a ceramics class from an artist who lives nearby, but who doesn't teach that often. She has a studio in a gorgeous old insulin factory out in the countryside and just being there in those beautiful surroundings, learning something new, would be awesome.

It was so inspiring that you made time for stitching in your busy life. It makes me think that I should step away from the internet once in awhile...

How very generous of you!! I long have admired your talents which have inspired me more than you could know!

If I had the time (and frankly the funds too) I'd fly from North Carolina to San Francisco to creat a week long 'art camp' with our one and only grandchild. City kids need a chance to find bugs, get dirty, pick up stones and sticks....you get the idea.....it's a nice dream!!

"IF they should sell . . . "? ((cough, cough))

Okay, beginning today, here's what I will do - I will do just like my uber-talented friend Lisa and dedicate 30 days to 30 little oil paintings. And if I get that done, I will send her one painting of her choice. How's that?

Unknown said...

Well.......I entered on your Facebook page....but I will try here too!
I have to give the same answer....spend more time with my Grandson!

Jennifer said...

I would love to be able to stich stones like you do

I would spend more time on my art if given the chance. I squeeze in time before and after work, so am grateful for that!

I would go to the mountain every day:)

Hi Lisa another beautiful stone. If I had the time I would also teach myself to sew, so that I can make some of the awesome quilts I've collected on Pintrest! I love that you are going to let your kids pick the winners!

I would spend a lot more time doing creative, crafty things like the beautiful embroidered stones here. Your work is very inspiring!

Unknown said...

Weaving, felting, making, drawing, creating. I do get to do a lot of creating, but these are the things I would like to do more of.

I really wish I could more frequently visit my parents. The 14 hour drive is a big commitment in terms of funds as well as time, so we only get to do it once or twice a year, but we do manage to stay for a good week or two each time. I'd love to go once per season, I miss the coastal climate too. Thanks!

Barb said...

Your stones are just beautiful. I am always in awe when I see a new creation!

Sumac said...

I have collected everything I need to weave, all I lack is the time! I have a huge stash of yarn, both handspun and commercial that has been sitting around forever waiting for a good project. Not to mention rag rugs which would help with the fabric stash as well.

Love your stones!

Unknown said...

If I had the time? I would dust off my embroidery skills, take a page from your creative enthusiasm, and do a little more handwork. Handwork is soothing, relaxing, good for the soul. We all need more of that!

I would hop on a plane and go to Hawaii to visit my little 1-year old grandson, Luhi. I don't get to see him often enough (I live in Utah) and he keeps growing so fast! First he's crawling, next thing I know he's walking and talking. It's hard being a long-distance grandma.

sandy said...

I want to start weaving again! I've been spinning a lot but I need to complete the process and finish a project. Thank you for the chance of winning your lovely felted stone! slanger

I have lots of things I would like to do; it's hard to pick just one. If I had the time, I definitely would like to improve my sewing skills. If I had the time and the money, I've always been charmed by the spinning wheel and the loom.

JJoanna said...

If I have a time I would spent more time with my grandma who passed away almost two years ago- to learn from the art of herbs.

Lisa, I love your stones. They are always so interesting. What would I do if I had more time? I would embroider more!
Thanks for the giveaway.

I live by Lake Superior. If I had the time, I would make many stops along the shore and wade in the water feeling for smooth stones. I would reach down and pick up every stone that felt the right size and rinse it off in the lake and then decide if it was just the right smoothness and shape to keep. I would spread my stones out on the shore and pick 20 of my favorites. These I would bring home and cover with wool to embroider. Just the way Lisa taught me.

I would make sure I'm up in time for your shop update, LOL.

But seriously, I need to find time to get back to my artwork. I had thought about selling all of my supplies recently but a good friend will soon be proposing a project to me, so hopefully that will get me started again.

Thanks for the chances to win, Lisa. I'm so glad you're stitching again...you know how I love your stones (even if I don't win). Looking at the stones I have of yours, on my end table, makes me happy every day!

Quinn said...

But I do have time - the same 24 hours/day we all have. I have to spend a lot of it resting and recovering from activity these days, but I'm trying to learn how to use my "functional" time as effectively as possible. So it's not that I need more time; I need more me :)

Unknown said...

I love your work. I'm going to take your lead and MAKE some time every day for creating. It's true that we can find snippets of time every day for the things we consider important. I would love to win one of your stones to remind me that I need to make time in my day for art.

Even though my mantra right now is "I have enough time," if I had MORE than enough I would be spending it playing in my studio, sorting supplies, making collages, playing with beads and fibers and fabrics...

karikatzi said...

Oh man if I had more time (well kid free time) I would totally do more needle felting and fiber play. I love your stones, they inspire me to make time

Paige said...

I would travel the world with a van full of picture books and art supplies so I could read out loud to children and adults everywhere and then have fun creating some art.

Katerina said...

I love your stones so much.
If I had more time I would be nuno felting more and try bigger pieces more often. Also I would like to try watercolour.

I would go back to school and become an herbalist.....

What a treat it would be to have one of your beautiful creations! What would I do if I had more time? Ride my horse more, spin more, create stained glass windows again, paint and draw again, walk/jog more, resume journal writing (maybe; my blogs may have filled that need completely)....

Lee said...

We all have the same 24 hours in a day, but I wish I could spend more time with good friends, family, nature, and art. Your work is inspiring, Lisa!

Cat said...

Oh time... I've been making so much time for, well, making these days. I'd like to make time for more travel, to the west coast and to the UK. I'm starting to get used to the candle burning at both ends, but know I can't keep it up forever! thank you for sharing your time with us !

Jorin said...

If I had more time, I would read books. I would say, if I had time, I would knit my cardigan, I would spin, I would felt with my felting machine - but I'm sure, if I had more time, that would be nice, but really, I would find myself on the couch with a book ;-).

If I had the time I would love to just sit...sit and breathe deeply...sit and enjoy all the little things you miss when you are too busy rushing...and I would do it without the guilt of knowing I should be doing something else! :)

I would do more of the same I do now when I have time : gardening, reading, drawing, crocheting, knitting, cooking, going for a walk, making jewelry ... and most of all : cleaning and other housekeepingthings ( when I have to choose now, I mostly choose the fun things ;) )

Zoe said...

If I had more time, I'd set up a hummingbird feeder. I love to see them zipping around. I know if I did set one up, I'd never find the time to keep adding sugar water. But I do love seeing those little birds.

Brenda said...

That's a tuffy... There are so many things in the arts that call to me daily or should I say in the evening hours after work. If I had the time, I would see some of my wool mat designs to completion. :) Yes, that and about a 100 other things on my list! ;) The mats would be a wonderful starting point though.

You definitely have inspired me, Lisa. Instead of vegging out, I cut and trimmed my graphite fine art in one evening. Then, took the time to mount them in my new portfolios that have been sitting around for two months! Like Richard Branson was quoted saying, "Quit thinking about it and just do it."

Sew! I have so much sewing I want to do.

I am loving reading these ideas!!! I would open a bookstore by the ocean...two dreams combined!!!

What would I do? I would sit and listen to my chickens cluck. I would help my daughter take her goat for a walk. She needs to learn to lead for the fair! She's very friendly and loves grapes! When there's time all animals need extra attention, scratches and lovin'.

Margaret said...

There are so many things I would do if I had the time. Re-learn weaving, learn spinning, perfect my knitting more quickly than I'm able to do now, get some quilting in, -- you get the picture. lol!

Liz said...

If I had the time... I would still get that book out and read for fun. :)

Unknown said...

I'd read a book from start to finish, in ONE sitting

Barbara Kane said...

I'm not so much short of time as I am of physical ability, because I have an unusual disability - I am completely unable to sit. Think about that for a minute - sitting is a part of most things we do. So, if I was able to, I'd travel from one place to another looking for people who knew how to do or make something of interest to me and ask if I could do or make it with them. Once I'd learned how, I'd travel to somewhere else and find someone who wanted to learn how to do or make the thing I'd just learned, and share that know-how with them. Then I'd find someone else in that place who knew how to do or make something, I'd learn from them, then travel to another place and pass that on. I'd keep moving from place to place learning and sharing wherever I went. It would be so fun! I could take photos and blog as I went along, or save the photos and a record of the whole trip and create a book after a few years of this kind of traveling, learning and sharing. I love the green stone with the dark red flower - and having that stone would help inspire me to find a way to make my dream become a reality. There must be a way I could do it!

I would love to have one of your stones! They are so beautiful. I'm not quite sure how you manage to embroider on a stone. I've always used a hoop. If I had more time, I would be able to sew, crochet, embroider, paint, bead, and decorate more. I would also like to try making a stone like yours. So many ideas, so little time!

Lisa,
I love your work and find it so inspiring. You are amazing how you juggle family, job and your soul work! Some day I hope to have one of your treasured felted stones.
Rock on!

There's so much I would do! At the moment though it would be get things organized so I can find the things to do. I always seem to have a list in my head of things I want to be doing that's longer than is humanly possible. Your stones are lovely!

as i said on FB I'd stitch, drink tea, walk on beach, stitch some more...(by some strange miracle that is what I am doing today...HURRAH!!)

Hi Lisa congrats on your ten day project! I hope u can carry on with it! If I had more time I would be felting and stitching all day! Also I would love to get a lesson on natural dyeing and stitching on stones from you! Happy stitching! All your stones are just gorgeous!

Congratulations on completing your 10 day challenge.

I've been knitting in my free time. Last week while cleaning out the basement, I found an old handwork project from grammar school. It wasn't finished. My mom packed it away for me. I need to complete that project! Won't tell how many decades it has been.

Next year, I plan on leading a "Learn to Knit" pack of sessions for parents at my son's school. Handwork is a valuable component to learning. It will be helpful for parents to understand and realize the benefits of handwork as a support to schoolwork. That will be a fun way to spend my day off of work.

Happy stitching!

Dear Lisa,
I am a true Follower of your blog from Germany. I live in Wiesbaden near the Rhine River. I love your fine artworks, also this wonderful photos of your live and your home. Especially your felted stones - they are really artfull.
All my free time I spend for creating with a lot of different materials - wool, fabric, yarn, driftwood, seaglass ... etc. Love it so much, to create my own style - my clothes, my home - my own little world. If I had much more time, I would like to make the world a little more beautifull, give more colour. Working together with a lot of people all over the world, from different cultures - cause I think people need this. Art is very important for our world!
I hope, you understand - my english ist not so good.
A lot of sunny greetings from Germany
Antje
