The awesome rikrak is featuring my collection of wooden bowls on her blog today and having a giveaway, too! Stop on by and see more pics of my lovely bowls and try your hand at winnin' some stuff.
What a lovely interview and your collection is fabulous. (mmmmm . . . wood stuff) I particularly love your aubergine wall - beautiful background for the prints and lovely patina'd wood pieces.
I have my grandmother's wooden butter bowl and her wooden butter paddle. About 16 inches across. I treasure it, however, it is cracked. Is there something special I should be doing to care for my bowl?
Lora - many of them crack and warp. If you fear that the crack will cause the bowl to break, you might want to apply a patch. It was common for people to repair these bowls with some kind of makeshift patch. If the crack isn't affecting the integrity of the bowl, you could probably leave it. I oil my bowls every couple of months with a wood oil, and I keep them out of sunlight and extreme temperature changes. Beyond that, I'm not sure there's much else you can do except consider the aging process part of its beauty. How lucky you are to have your grandmother's piece, that is really wonderful.
How I love your wooden bowls. Every time I see one, I think of you. Which reminds me, I saw a gigantic, amazingly beautiful one at the antique store a while ago and desperately wanted it. Alas, my bank account wouldn't allow it :( Anyway, I'm hopping over there now!

Happy Wednesday!!
At first I thought it was a giveaway of your wooden bowls...
And my ennui (french word) dissapated for about two seconds until I realized the giveaway was on the other website...
I will go back to lusting in the pictures...
And I blogged about the giveaway on my own blog today! (blogblogblogblogblog)
