fabulous fairies

I taught a fairy class to 10 talented ladies last night.  It was a lot of fun and everyone left with a beautiful and unique fairy.

Some had beehive hairdos.

Some wore pantaloons under their dresses.

Some were pretty in pink.

Some had dragonfly wings.

Some had more personality than their hair could contain.

Some were daintily delicate.

Great things happen when you get a group of women around a table full of color.
Thank you, ladies, for a wonderful evening.
Next class to be announced soon!

fairy practice

I'll be teaching fairy-making in a few weeks so I thought some practice was in order.
After some jabbing, bending, and taming of fluffy fibers I had a pair of little ladies on my table.

Later I found them dancing in my daisies, the dears.

For anyone interested in the class, details will be coming soon, but you can also sign up to be notified of workshops as well.

Hope you're having a magical weekend.

classes and kits

I taught my 2d felting class on Thursday night and had such a wonderful time.  It was so much fun that I forgot to take any pictures.  Not a one.  But believe me when I say that the ladies who joined me were such good company, asked such good questions, and made such great pieces.  It was a real pleasure for me.

I like teaching, and I hope to do more of it in the future.  In fact, I will be doing it in the future as I will be teaching a Tiny Toadstool Terrarium class on the 24th of May for FACRAG (Franklin Arts Center Resident Artists Gallery).  If you're at all interested in receiving an email when I have classes upcoming, you can sign up HERE.

If you'd like to have a go at felting on your own I have put a few little sheep kits in my shop.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

upcoming workshop

As I mentioned yesterday, I'll be teaching a felting workshop.  This will be a beginner class focusing on the basics of "painting" with wool and felting needles.  It should be fun.  It will be held in Brainerd, MN so if any of you locals would like to come out, email me and I'll reserve a spot for you.  The cost is only $15 and covers all materials costs to make a small "painting".

If you'd like to be on my email list for all workshops and events, email me at lilfishstudios@gmail.com

Have a great Friday, everyone!

Woodland Pottery Workshop Aug. 4th and 5th

Friends, I am thrilled to share with you the first step down what feels like the "right path" for me.
I'm pleased to announce the very first workshop to be held right here under the poplar and pine.

Join me for a basic introduction to woodland pottery.

Aug. 4th - 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Aug. 5th - 9:00am to 1:00pm
class fee $40.

You may remember that this past fall I attended a class on woodland pottery, and how much I enjoyed it.  I really loved learning the history of, and how the Ojibwe people in this area constructed and used this pottery.   right from the earth.  Now we'll get the chance to make one of these beautifully functional vessels right here in my back yard.

We will lean how to dig clay, harvest tempering agents, construct a clay vessel, and fire it in my fire pit.  Nancy Foster will be on hand to walk us through the gathering of the clay, building of our pieces, and showing us how to add surface details using natural materials.   I will be demonstrating how to fire the pots on the second day of the workshop.  Ideally we would wait a week for the pots to dry before firing, but due to time constraints, and to make it easier for folks traveling from out of town, I've opted to have the firing the next day.

We'll dig in the dirt, and sit by the fire, and chat.  It's going to be great fun.  Light refreshments and snacks will be served both days of the workshop.  There will probably be a nature walk or two as well, and maybe if we're lucky the mushrooms will be popping out in the woods.  (I'll have the bug spray on the ready)

Read more details and secure your spot HERE.

If you'd like to pay by check, or if you have any questions, please contact me at lilfishstudios@gmail.com

I'm really looking forward to a fun weekend with new friends.  The chickens and ducks are pretty excited too and would love it if you'd help spread the word.  If you could share on facebook, tweet it, or tell your neighbor, we'd all really appreciate it.

Thanks all!  Let's have some fun!
