An artist in cellophane? You may be saying "I don't really need to know the details of your personal life, Lisa", but it's nothing like that I promise. I've been accepted as an AIC artist and some of my work is going to be in an Art-o-Mat machine near you! (well, maybe not near you, but somewhere)
So if you see my little tag in an Art-o-Mat machine, and feel like kerplunking $5, you'll receive one of my small felted stones and support a super cool organization.
I'm in the process of making an edition of 50 and once they're completed they'll be on their way to Art-o-Mat. I'm not sure in which machine they'll end up, but if/when I know, I'll be sure to post here.
If you want to learn more about Art-o-Mat, check out their website. And keep your eyes peeled for a machine in your neck of the woods. Kerplunk!

that is way cool! and it's just the first step!! and how awesome is that packaging!
Thanks j! It's such a fun idea. And thanks on the packaging. I carved a stamp for that and discovered that I'm not very good at carving stamps in the process.
Awesome ! This machine reminds me of machines in fairs when I was a little girl. I agree, the packaging is so neat & smart ! oxoxo
Yay! Be sure to send one to the one in the gallery at the U of Nebraska! Maybe a whole stack just like cigarettes in the old cigarette machines?
Congratulations, this is fantastic!
That is just the coolest thing! I love that they're using old cigarette machines for something more interesting and healthy. I clicked on the map, and there's one near me! Like less thatn 20 miles away. I will definitely have to check this out. Congrats on being accepted. If they accept stones, I wonder if they would accept little quilts, or little doilies, or little handmade bookmarks. So many possibilities inside a cigarette pack sized box!
I LOVE this idea. Someone certainly is a genius! They'll never get one all the way to Alaska but I think this is just the BEST idea I've heard in a long time!
how exciting!
hooray for you!!!
p.s. i really love the box and design on the front, did you stamp it yourself? or get it done somewhere.
it feels so organic and lovely!
fantastic=congratulations! i've experienced the art-o-mat before and it's the greatest thing since the kinder surprise egg!
i see there is one in mpls and i'm gonna go. keep us posted on where your stones will end up.
yay for you-i'd be thrilled to receive your felted stone. and what a lovely design.
What a great idea. Never heard about Art-O-Matic. I think I hear field trip. My daughter wants to go to the one near us and get some art, then she wants to research the artist. Thanks again for the iformation.
I wish we had something like this in the UK.
What a fantastic project! 50 lucky people will own one of your stones.

Congrats! I will now plot out and stalk nearby locales.

What a great idea! I wish there was a machine near me.
How wonderful for you and all those lucky people! Now I need to think small it would be mighty hard to squeeze one off my quilts in that little box.
Never heard of such a thing before and I think it's wonderful! Congrats!
This is so incredible! Every time I turn around you are doing something else amazing!!! 8*)
Your box and stamp are just delightful (I love the little stitches on it , nice touch).
Your work is sublime. A steal at $5 , but I think its a fantastic idea for the cigarette machines and how stunning for you.
That is super cool!
Please request that all fifty go to New England so I can buy them up. :)
Or at least a bunch to Paper Nautilus in Providence...
A long time ago I was at the Public Library in Charlotte NC, and saw a vending machine that sold art. I still have the little paper snake mobile that came out.
I just checked and there are two vending machines near me. One is in San Francisco, the other in Sacramento. I live exactly in the middle, so hopefully one of them shall get your stones.
Oh wow! There IS an Art-O-Mat near me and I'd love to get one of your stones. Any idea which ones you'll be in? I'm near the one is San Francisco.

Oh my, this is the coolest thing ever, the idea, the packaging, the stone itself...gorgeous!
Sounds fantastic, it reminds me of the little boxes you could get at fairs or at the seaside over here, such a brilliant idea, you will have people queuing at the machines :))))You are clever, the printed box is ace!
This is awesome! I've been lusting after your felted stones forever, and you're always sold out when I look in your shop. There's an Art-o-Mat here in Madison and I DESPERATELY hope they'll send some here. Please please please tell us when they get put out!
