Hubby's Secret Cinnamon Roll Recipe

For those of you that asked about the cinnamon roll recipe my husband used to make the delicious treat seen in yesterday's post, well it seems it's not such a secret.  He uses Paula Deen's cinnamon roll recipe, found here

The only changes he makes is that he doubles the recipe to make enormous rolls, which yields giant inside pieces (my favorite part).  He also uses brown sugar instead of white and adds cloves to the cinnamon.  It makes the rolls kind of caramel-y.  When eating, he is adamant that you slather a glob of butter on top of it.

He also lets them rise in a bowl on top of the firewood, next to the fire, but that step is completely optional.  So is pretending they're snails.  ;)

Enjoy!

Toodie - here's Paula's recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/cinnamon-rolls-recipe/index.html It is pretty yummy.

Thanks everyone! Glad you liked my early morning snail silliness too.

Looks good enough to eat. Cinnamon rolls were one of my few pregnancy cravings, and good ones are very hard to come by, in my opinion.

Yummm, I just might have to try out that recipe. I'd be "the-best-mom-ever" if I made those for my boys. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my gosh, these sound soooo good! And yes, the inside is the very best part. My sister got me hooked on a really weird cinnamon roll topping : cream cheese. It's amazing!

When I finish all my chores (which could take many days) this will be my non-wheat free treat. I might even share one or two with my family.

Thanks so much for the recipe and for you hubby's alterations.

I am forever in search of the perfect cinnamon roll recipe. I must try this. Also, using brown sugar instead of white? Your husband is a smart man!

Oh, p.s. My internets are very slow at the moment, which means I got a good look at your background photo as your blog was loading (seriously, it's like dial up!). It is gorgeous. I have a particular love for shots of paths and doorways.

My son just came home from school assigned to letter S week for school. He wanted me to make Cinnamon roll snails, so I googled it and here you are! How many of these do you think I'd need to make to feed 9 hungry preschoolers at snack time? Would one recipe do it?

Cinnamon roll snails for the letter S, how perfect!

I can't finish a roll from the doubled recipe without help so I think the regular, single, recipe would probably suit a group of 9 preschoolers pretty well.

Have fun!
