Though I feel lucky to have a great day job, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss my working from home days. I miss being able to flit from project to project, idea to idea, pollinating my soul, so to speak. I always got a lot done, but admittedly not in an organized, straight path kind of way.
More...wandery.
Though I didn't wander and experiment yesterday with soul-filling tasks, I did get to do a little of this and a little of that. Mostly practical things that I hadn't until now made time for like cutting the beads off that shirt that was headed to the rag bag, prepping that wool in the corner for dyeing, and putting my new greeting cards in their cello sleeves. Nothing terribly exciting, but satisfying nonetheless. There's a lot of merit in being a straight path kind of person, but it's not a natural state for me. I have to work at it whereas the wandery state feels so innately comfortable.
How about you?
Are you a straight-as-an-arrow, organized sort of person?
Are you a wandery, I'll-get-it-all-done-eventually kind of person?
Are you something else all together?
Do you feel you balance productivity and enjoyment well?
That's something I want to work on.
Balance.

Wandery type too! I want the enjoyment out of my creative paths mainly!AriadnefromGreece!
All the best for the new year first, Lisa !
Oh yes I'm a wandery person : when I tell a story .... at the end you've heard at least five connected stories (and perhaps totally forgot where it all started hi, hi !)
But, like you, sometimes I'm staightforward and get a lot of things done ! (but then fall back to wandering ha )
Oh, I relate to this post! I have a hard time staying focused on one task and always have multiple projects that I skip happily back and forth from. I was this way even when I did work a regular 9-5, but now that homesteading is my occupation my flighty "schedule" works much better than it did in the office. Great blog, your creativity is inspiring!
Ariadne - there is much to be said for enjoying ones creative path.
Els - yes! I am the same way with stories, I feel I need to fill in all the details of all the details. Stories are seldom a brief affair for me. :)
Johanna - I imagine with homesteading there is always enough to do. Good on ya! Enjoy your skipping. :)
Happy new year, sweet one ! Health, happiness & wealth to you all !
I'm half organized & half hopeful things will get done by themselves (lazy bone).
xoxo
I'm both I think. Work me is a straight arrow check all the things off the list and do them as perfectly perfect as I can.
Fun artsy me is all over the place. Having ideas and starting projects and abandoning them. I took 5 years to make my first (and only) quilt, but I can bang out other projects in less than 5 hours from first concept to finish.
I used to be really down on myself for not finishing things or doing them perfectly perfect. I'm learning to accept my own artistic style and not try to make it perfect anymore. I think it's good to have a balance. Easier said than done of course. :D

Happy New Year, Sonia!
